Spirit Valley Days returns with live show, parades and performances – Reuters

DULUTH – Spirit Valley Days is back for its 42nd year. The annual festival celebrating all things West Duluth will return with most of its hallmarks and traditions and with a few new events.

Events begin at 4 p.m. Thursday with the Miss West Duluth and Miss West Duluth Princess pageant at Mr. D’s Bar and Grill, 5622 Grand Ave. The contest, which recognizes Denfeld High School students who are dedicated to the West Duluth community and donate their time. , offers scholarship winners.

The competition is sparsely attended by free line dancing classes at In Harmony Reiki and Inner Wellness, next to Mr. D’s at 5628 Grand Ave. This new event at 5:30 p.m. includes free classes for ages.

Thursday ends with the traditional 6:00 p.m. Spirit Valley Days summer parade along Grand Avenue from 59th Avenue to Central Avenue and along Central Avenue to Ramsey Street.

Clubs and organizations will serve a variety of foods throughout the celebration on Friday before the live music begins. The Centerville Allstars perform at Kom On Inn, 332 N. 57th Ave W., at 8 p.m. Blackhoof will play at 9 p.m. at Mr. D’s and Bantix will play at Gopher Bar and Grill, 402 N. Central. Avenue, also at 9 p.m.

Saturday events include the Western Garden Tour starting at 9 a.m. Norton Park United Methodist Church, 436 N. 79th Ave W., and a craft fair and jumble sale in the parking lot at West Duluth American Legion Post 71, 5814 Grand Ave. , from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
