PULASKI – The Salmon River Fine Arts Center will be holding its annual auction and online fundraiser this year and the first auctions are taking place now. The arts center moved this event online last year to avoid large gatherings during the pandemic. With COVID and its variants still a concern, they are hosting the auction again through betterworld.org, an organization designed to support and fund nonprofits.
The auction will now continue until 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 2. The Arts Center will be hosting a virtual party on Facebook Live from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 2. The event will be livened up with commentary on how the auction items are doing the evening and features live music by Ritter and Ruddy, a local American duo. If people like what they hear, they can bid on a backyard concert with these local musicians. Award-winning artist Robert Reed will also paint live at the event and his painting will be auctioned off that evening.
There are over a hundred items up for auction, including original paintings, prints and pottery by over forty different artists, as well as unique gift baskets, gift certificates, and services from many companies. local. All items have been donated so that 100% of the auction proceeds will go directly to the Salmon River Art Center.
The center invites the public to preview and bid by going to https://srfac.betterworld.org and selecting the 2021 auction link. The host website has made auctions even easier this year, as it Allows users to set a maximum bid so that bids are automatically placed to outbid new bidders up to the maximum bid amount.
“While we really miss having everyone at the center for a live fundraising event, we do our best to make it a fun virtual party with entertainment via Facebook Live,” said Ann Buchau, President from the administration board. “We encourage people to interact and run their own live auction with people within their ‘bubble’, share friendly comments and bid together,” Buchau said. “You can bid on any mobile device, tablet or desktop and no special apps or downloads are necessary. “
