Now a four-time Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Jewel shares his powerful interpretation of Maggie Rogers the hit song “Alaska”, as a bonus track from his recently released new studio album freewheeling womanthrough his words matter. The music video features drone footage of Jewel in the scenic Alaskan setting. Given Jewel’s background as an Alaskan native, her rendition of the song comes with a depth and appreciation for her homeland.

Jewel shares, “I know very well the natural beauty of the Alaskan landscape that inspired Maggie’s song. When I first heard her, I felt an instinctive pull for the scene she had created. I also like his meditative lyrics referencing “the air in between”. Alaska has shaped so much who I am, and mindful breathing is a practice I use every day, so I feel a kindred connection to Maggie’s view of Alaska; like two artists sharing a similar experience, taking the same wooded paths. I am happy to share my point of view on this.

Freewheelin’ Woman presents Jewel’s boldest work to date, revealing entirely new dimensions to her jaw-dropping vocals. The album finds Jewel working with producer Butch Walker (Taylor Swift, P!nk, Avril Lavigne), dreaming up a soulful, heavy sound partly inspired by classic R&B records made at Muscle Shoals. Jewel considers the album the most recent milestone in her lifelong devotion to following her truth.

Audiences will get to see Jewel and her band perform music from the new album live this summer with Train, which also features on her recent single “Dancing Slow.” The tour kicks off June 8 in Mansfield, MA with over 35 shows including New York, Nashville, Dallas, San Diego, and more.

Jewel also continues to be a leader in the mental health conversation, with her non-profit organization, the Inspiring Children Foundation, which for nearly two decades has provided mental health mentorship and resources to young people in risk. For Mental Health Awareness Month, she’s partnered with Nature of Mindfulness and The Big Silence to offer 21 days of free meditation and mindfulness practices daily on her website Jewelneverbroken.com and on Instagram @neverbroken .

For Mental Health Day of Action on May 19, Jewel has partnered with MTV to host free one-to-one mediation and yoga programs for all ages throughout the day on Jewelneverbroken.com. For more information see HERE.
