Azure Ryder takes over Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” for Sydney’s new tourism campaign

Sydney indie-pop artist Azure Ryder shared a striking cover of Nina Simone’s 1965 classic “Feeling Good”, marking her partnership with Destination NSW for its latest local tourism campaign.

Ryder’s take on the song shines with a dry, minimalist drum beat and synthesized razor-sharp horns, his emphatic lead vocals soaring above with a bold and powerful aplomb. It comes up with a new campaign ad featuring Ryder – dubbed “Feel New Sydney” – which shows the singer-songwriter dancing in a park with the Harbor Bridge visible in the background.

Listen to “Feeling Good” below, then take a look at the campaign ad:

“Sydney has a very special place in my heart,” Ryder said today (December 1) in a press release, “from my childhood on the northern beaches to the city’s thriving arts and culture scene, I am so excited to be able to release ‘Feeling Good’ to celebrate all that this amazing state has to offer.

“I am delighted to be working with Destination NSW on their new campaign. Sydney is a place close to my heart and I am honored to be involved in helping to bring attention to Sydney and NSW by releasing a track that will inspire people to visit and re-energize businesses across the state.

The new track follows Ryder’s third EP, “Ladder To The Moon,” which landed in October via Island / Universal. Flanked by the singles “Some Kind Of Love” and the title track, this was her third EP in two years – her predecessor, “Crazy With The Light” (which included the single “Stronger”), was released a year ago. previously.

Ryder made his debut last March with the single ‘Dizzy’ and the EP ‘Running With The Wolves’. She followed him with an appearance on Triple J’s As a version segment, where she delivered a cover of Dua Lipa’s track ‘Don’t Start Now’.
