Towards oblivion, and beyond! New online music show on RTÉ Culture

Popular online music show Oblivion sessions returns for a new 10-part series on Monday 23 August, featuring the cream of Irish musical talent – viewers can watch via RTÉ Culture and listen on RTÉ 2XM.

The acclaimed series features 20 new music acts (ish), spanning the gamut of musical genres, from folk and electronics to pop and hip-hop, and speaks to music industry veterans who have market and will make the speech in the Tips and tricks segment of the show. The first episode features NOAH, Niamh Regan, and David Bowie collaborator Gerry Leonard in conversation.

Each week, an unlikely combination of artists is captured live in the Oblivion Ballroom. ).

The Tips and tricks the guests are equally diverse, with musicians, producers, managers, agents and academics spanning part of the music world, from creation to sale. Oversight host Andrew Bass asks each of them to share three things they’ve learned that anyone interested in music or performing would find useful.

Who could doubt the talent of actors like Celaviedemai, The Mary Wallopers and Cherym, for example, or that Louis Walsh, Jenny Greene, Radie Peat and Gerry Leonard have learned a thing or three over the years?

The new series of Oblivion sessions starts here on RTÉ Culture Monday 23 August, with the audio version on RTE2XM, Wednesday 25 at 7 p.m. – a new episode follows each week for 9 weeks.

Oblivion sessions is fully funded by the LPSS (Live Performance Support Scheme), provided by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.
